Principal Cindy Gibson
Cindy Gibson - Principal
It is both an honor and a privilege to serve the Jim G. Martin Elementary community as your Campus Principal! I am very proud to say that I have built my 14 year educational career at Northside ISD, all dedicated to shaping the future of elementary students.
Prior to becoming an educator, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Bilingual Bicultural Studies at UTSA. Birds Up! I then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Lamar University. While at NISD, I have served in various roles from teacher, to special education coordinator, to associate principal. Most recently, I was the Principal of Los Reyes Elementary. All of these opportunities added a wealth of knowledge and experience to my current role, as principal.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our beautiful children. We go on walks, hikes, and love spending time near the water.
I grew up on the southside of San Antonio, soy mexicana, y hablo español! My leadership is driven by a deep commitment to provide educational excellence for all students, regardless of race or background. I am committed to creating a nurturing and innovative environment where every one of our Martin Engineers can thrive and I look forward to working collaboratively with all of YOU!
This year is Martin’s year to SHINE. We will SHINE TOGETHER!
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Gibson

Mayte Martinez - Associate Principal

My name is Mariela Mayte Martinez, and I am honored to serve as your Associate Principal!

It’s a privilege to work alongside our dedicated staff, supportive families, and amazing students to cultivate a positive, inclusive learning environment. Beginning my career in the classroom, I carry the heart of a teacher into every aspect of my leadership. These experiences have deepened my commitment to the academic and personal growth of every student.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Bilingual Certification and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas at San Antonio. My work in education is guided by a passion for equity, empowerment, and excellence.

At Martin Elementary, we believe in the limitless potential of every child. Our mission is to ensure each student receives a high-quality education, feels safe and supported, and is empowered to reach their goals. As a servant leader, I am here to listen, collaborate, and support our school community in making this year one of growth and success.

Together, we will continue to make Martin Elementary a place where students thrive. Let’s make it a fantastic year—Choo Choo!
