Rawlinson MS Attendance Secretary: Nicole Buentello
How can we send in late notes or excuses?
Your student can drop off notes and excuses to me in the front office or you can send them to my
email at [email protected]. Please remember to add student’s name and ID number to all
emails.
If I send a parent excuse or doctor’s excuse, will my student be excused or will it still count against
them?
If your student turns in a doctor’s excuse and has been out the entire school day, it will be excused
but still count against their total number of absences. If they return to school the same day with a
doctor’s excuse, they will be coded as health and this will not count against them. If a student turns
in a parent excuse, that is an unexcused absence documented with a note and will count against their
total number of absences for the year. (Please refer to Rawlinson handbook for further information.)
Who can pick up my student?
A parent or guardian and anyone who is listed as an emergency contact on their student’s list. Please
make sure all contacts are up to date and each person is over the age of 18. Feel free to email me with
any changes or additions. All pick ups will require a state ID for student to be released. No
exceptions.
When are they considered late to school or absent to class?
Students must be in attendance 90% of the school day. In the morning, students have until 8:55 to get
to class and only be marked as tardy. After that, a student will be counted absent if coming in late to
1st period. All other periods, there is a five minute window for being marked tardy. If they are late
more than five minutes to class, they will be marked absent by the teacher, unless arriving with a
pass.
New district policy this year for turning in excuses:
There is a 48 hour policy for us to receive an excuse for your student upon their return from being
out. Please send an excuse upon your student’s return to school, if not as soon as possible.
Please feel free to email me at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
