STEM Education in Northside ISD
Northside ISD’s STEM Education program provides students with hands-on, real-world learning experiences that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through inquiry-based instruction, problem solving, and design thinking, students develop critical thinking and collaboration skills that prepare them for future academic and career success.
At the elementary level, each campus has a dedicated STEM lab where students participate in activities and design challenges that spark curiosity and creativity using knowledge from classroom instruction and tied to a variety of STEM careers.

STEM Education at Mary Hull ES
Welcome to the Mary Hull STEM Lab! STEM is part of the Discovery rotation, students come to STEM once or twice a week depending on their schedule. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Students are given a challenge and encouraged to find a solution using the Engineering Design Process. This design process is: Ask, Imagine, Create (test), Collaborate, and Improve. Students work in groups and independently working towards improving their design challenges. When a design is not successful, we review what could be done to improve for next time. When the groups have difficulty working together, we discuss how to better work collaboratively. Some of the different STEM fields we explore are Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, and Computer Science. Being given the opportunity to make mistakes and search for multiple solutions is essential to learning how to "think outside the box." Our students are our future, NISD STEM Labs is helping them to be better prepared!
