Hatchett Library

The Hatchett Library opens at 7:15 a.m. for families and students to quietly read and check books in and out and closes at 2:45 p.m. for the day. The library is closed for Mrs. Shaheen's lunch (which is 30 minutes between 11:30-1:30, depending on the classes seen that day), when she is visiting classes in their classrooms, planning with teachers, or off campus for once a month meetings. 

Each class has a scheduled library visit every 6 days. The library follows the Discovery rotation days, and Mrs. Shaheen tries her hardest to see classes that were missed due to absences or rescheduling due to the library being used for events. Teachers can schedule additional time as needed. Students can return books and get new ones outside of their regularly scheduled library class.

All students are able to check books in and out from the library. Students must return books to check out new books. 

Pre-K/ECSE/ECC- Students choose 1 board book that is checked out under their teacher's name. These books stay in the classroom

Kinder -1st grade- Students choose 1 book to check out under their name. Some teachers opt to keep these books in the classroom instead of sending them home.

2nd-5th grades- Students choose 2 books to check out under their name. These books may go home as long as they are taken care of and returned. 

Parents/guardians/caretakers are able to check out up to 5 books at a time for 2 weeks. They can check out before school and are encouraged to look at our Parenting Resource cart for books. They will need to set up an account, so see Mrs. Shaheen for more information.
